Khawaja Asif Says DG ISPR Delivered Charge Sheet Against KP Government

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry effectively presented a charge sheet against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government during his recent press conference.

In a statement shared on social media, Khawaja Asif said those allegedly involved in facilitating terrorism could not hide behind politics. He said the DG ISPR had made the position clear during his briefing.

The defence minister questioned the KP government’s role in the fight against terrorism and asked why provincial authorities were not taking a more active role. He also questioned why greater efforts were not being made to strengthen the capacity of the provincial police.

Referring to the previous day’s press conference, Khawaja Asif said the DG ISPR had effectively presented a charge sheet against the KP government. He described the message as clear and said the situation could not continue in the same manner.

Khawaja Asif also questioned what he described as confusion surrounding the narrative on terrorism. He stressed the need for effective measures against militant threats and greater institutional efforts to deal with the security situation.

The federal minister further emphasized the importance of the state, saying that politics and democracy depend on the existence and stability of the state. He said the interests of the country and its institutions should remain central to dealing with security challenges.
