The United States and 12 Middle Eastern countries have agreed to strengthen cooperation to ensure Strait of Hormuz trade security and maintain the uninterrupted flow of commercial shipping through one of the world’s most strategic waterways. The agreement was reached during a regional security meeting held in Bahrain under the leadership of the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The conference brought together senior military officials from the United States and regional partners to discuss the evolving security environment in the Middle East. Participants also reviewed measures aimed at enhancing defence cooperation and improving coordination to safeguard maritime trade routes.
A key outcome of the meeting was a shared commitment to protect commercial navigation and maintain Strait of Hormuz trade security. The participating countries agreed to continue joint efforts to ensure that international shipping and energy supplies move safely through the critical maritime corridor without disruption.
According to officials, military representatives from Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen attended the regional security discussions. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in response to emerging security challenges across the region.
CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper said the United States remains committed to regional peace and stability alongside its partners. He added that Washington is working closely with allied countries to operate one of the world’s most advanced integrated air and missile defence networks in the Middle East.
The meeting comes amid heightened attention on the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway through which a significant share of global oil and commercial shipments passes. Continued cooperation among regional partners is viewed as essential for protecting international trade and energy security.
